In house previews are Sunday 2/12 from 1pm-5pm and Monday from 12 noon- 2:30pm or by appointment after 2/6. The sale includes several estates and partial estates, primarily the midtown Manhattan estate of the daughter of a long closed Madison Avenue art gallery, expert in South American art. Many items in the sale were purchased from NYC galleries in the early 1980's.

Artists represented in the sale include Georges Leroux, Boscagli, Everett Shinn, Victoria Dubourg, Carles Vickey, P. Bertieri, Edward Detaille, Georges Lepape, Frederick Taubes, Valentine Hugo, Raphael P. Barradas, Andre Marty, Rube Goldberg, Louis Boilly, Estaban Garino, Henri Pierre, Franz Kline, Vernon Bailey, David Lax, Arthur Coppedge, Pal Fried, Pierre Bertandi, A. Point, Carlos Gomez Fernandez, Zito Quendo, Frans Masereel, Harari, Nick Hansen, Max Liebermann, Icart and Goya among others. 

Bronzes include works by Pablo Serrano, Juan Leon Zorilla, Alexis Rudier, Alfredo Pina, Enrico Caruso, Ruth Levine as well as many antique and unsigned pieces. 

A fine selection of 19th century bronze decorative items, chandeliers and sconces are scattered throughout the sale. Among the Asian items are a set of bronze elephant opium weights and a fine collection of miniature bronze deity fragments.

18th, 19th and 20th century furniture are diverse in a selection of barristers and file cabinets to American country, a rare Thonet recliner, a Gustav Stickley rocker, MCM teak furniture, and bedroom and dining room furniture. Silver and jewels include a few hundred ounces sterling flatware and hollowware, several gold bracelets and a continuation of the large estate collection of fine Native American silver and turquoise pieces including Old Pawn. 

A large selection of US commemorative gold and fine silver coins are also offered, most in large lots. 

Several china sets, Persian carpets, vintage beaded and designer handbags, decorated stoneware, duck decoys including several by both Stanley Cichowsky and Bob Jones, Charles Birdsall, Keith Mueller and others, an extensive collection of vintage Steiff teddy bears and animals, vintage dolls and various other country lots blend throughout the sale. Doll maker Jane Cather created the remarkable 'Class of 86' group of hand made cloth dolls that will be sold as one lot.

Other standouts in the 550 lot sale are an Ed Moulthrop "Negundo" bowl, a 1934 "Panama Digger Model 'A' penny arcade machine in unrestored condition, a brass National candy store register, a rare Blick "Featherweight" typewriter, a Jon Kuhn carved glass vase, a labeled John Appleton lightship basket, two Jauquet folk art carvings, a large collection Gregg Hessel Studios collection of copper candlesticks and a fine 19th century copper and zinc trotter and sulky weathervane in original gilt.

Traditionally one of our best sales of the year this particular auction offers 500 lots of traditional antiques, lots of silver and jewelry and "treasure and trash" from several estates, the sale begins with the last offering of paintings by Americo DiFranza followed Asian items highlighted by another 12 Chinese archers rings from the dwindling collection we've been dispersing for several years. 

Other carved jades, porcelains, bronzes, a rare Japanese meiji rain garment and some rosewood furniture follow.  Artists represented in the sale include A.C. Hollingsworth, Dickens Chang, Robert Byerley, Otto Bierhals, A. Witkowski, Ben Kamihira, Edward C. Leavitt, Charles Linford, Robert Ward Von Boskerk, T.S. Fribee, Hendrik Livens, Henry Miller, James Tytler and others. 

Many of the early paintings came primarily from a former Pound Ridge dealers estate and a very interesting Brewster NY estate of a gentleman. That estate offerings included some excellent 18th century carvings, lighting and a Dutch 16th century oil on panel depicting John the Baptist. An early Dutch oil, probably 17th century of two ships in distress, walked into the gallery from a local home.            

Early furniture including an excellent 17th or 18th century vargueno, an excellent burl maple Beidermeier dining set, lots of French Provincial including a complete carved antique panettiere, a bone inlaid Italian ebonized table and a large selection of American and Continental "brown furniture" plays throughout the day. 

American highlights include a period Phyffe attributed marble topped dressing table, A Boston box sofa, A Meeks style Gothic Revival bookcase secretary, a Horner style faux bamboo ladies desk, an Allison attributed drop leaf, a fine ebonized cerule armchair and another ebonized piece , an attributed Associated Artist work similar to a Vanderbilt interior example.  

Numerous 19th century mirrors, great country smalls, an impressive selection of old Meissen, an excellent pair of Gien Marois chargers, a large selection of other glass, bronze, clocks, antique maps, French posters, fine prints, ethnographic items, Daum and much more!  

An excellent sponge painted blanket box, a fine French marble top secretary, a matched pair of period brass inlaid rosewood game tables and strong tiger maple Eldred Wheeler secretary are a few other highlights. 

Mid Century items include a chandelier by Gaetano Sciolani and another Poul Henningson for Poulson, a large Paul Frankl bamboo set, two Aeron office chairs, a Frank Doerner lounge and ottoman, a Katavolos steel and leather chair and lots of teak among other pieces.   

Several hundred ounces of sterling silver flatware and hollowware, a large selection Native American and old pawn silver and turquoise jewelry and an excellent selection of fine jewelry from several estates is all unreserved. A selection of estate carpets including scatters and room sized, some good garden including antique cast and wrought iron and cast stone, a large pilot house eagle, a matched pair of 133 drawer steel cabinets from and the old Sing Sing prison and even a 19th century buckboard in excellent condition should cause a little excitement.

This sale begins with 20 paintings by Americo DiFranza from the estate collection of the artist. DiFranza, a career graphic designer and a master with pastel, later in life instructed at The Art Students League. 

From a large Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn estate comes several fine paintings, several exceptional French style salon sofas and chairs, an outstanding bronze mounted secretaire abattant, fine bronzes and Chinese and Japanese items. Chinese includes several rosewood marble top tables, many pieces of excellent porcelain including plaques, a pair of military rank badges, jades and a carved polychrome Buddha. Exceptional pieces of Satsuma pottery, watercolors and woodblocks were also part of the collection.    

Bronzes include a large Picault L'escholier, a large Barbedienne Roman man, two by Hazel Brill Jackson, a meerkat and a Roman on horseback and a modern five part burnished bronze series by Aharon Bezalel among others. The art from Brooklyn and other estates feature a signed Jasper Johns litho coat hanger, 1960; oils by J Machard, C. Jacque, W. Perry, Dutzschold, F.L. Martin, L. Burger, G. Kraus, Vestie Davis, F. Gommes, Clyde Wood, Harry Gottleib and two by Chaim Goldberg among others. 18th, 19th and 20th century furniture examples are scattered throughout the sale and include some excellent several oak pieces, a Harvard 19th century dental cabinet, several glass front cabinets, a large gilt pier mirror,  Mid Century examples; six Eames Eiffel Tower chairs, a Paul McCobb cabinet, eight Steelcase chairs, a Joe Columbo utility cart, Eames office chair,  a pair of BBB Sissi Italian leather chairs, a pair of chrome and black Barcelonas and a Geiger Brickel sofa. 

Mid Century garden includes a Woodard set, six chairs and a table with a matching sofa. Other garden features a 3/4 life size 18th? century carved limestone classical girl, signed with some damage, Victorian iron urns, a wrought iron dining table and a cast stone standing griffin and sundial.

Several china services; Lenox 'Columbia", Wedgwood 'Florentine", Haviland Limoges 'Cathay' , five cast glass Daum autos, a tremendous offering Waterford glass and various other fine porcelains and glass from various estates. Hudson Valley Auctioneers, located at 432 Main Street, Beacon, New York will present a 560 lot unreserved antique and estate auction with absentee, phone  and online bidding through Liveauctioneers.com on September 19th at an early start of 3:00 PM EST.  In house previews are Sunday 9/18 from 1pm-5pm and Monday from 12 noon- 2:30pm or by appointment.  After a summer of attempting to empty our warehouse of various collections and estate remainders primarily through Clearing House Estate Sales our fall season of probably just two unreserved estate auctions will prove to be interesting.

This sale begins with 20 paintings by Americo DiFranza, a first offering from the estate collection of the artist. DiFranza, a career graphic designer and a master with pastel, later in life instructed at The Art Students League and was past president. This initial offering will be followed in subsequent sales with approximately 40 more pieces. The remainder of the sale is primarily from two old money NYC estates, the Estate of Dennis Lo and several other partial estates.                                                          

A selection of Chinese porcelain pieces, gilt carvings and carved jades, archers rings, snuff bottles, Japanese Satsuma pottery, watercolors and woodblocks and some furniture follow. The day's art selections include two works by  George Hausdorf in original frames, an Alfred T. Bricher watercolor, two by Agna Enters, Sepp Linder and a  large oil after William Bouguereau in a fine gilt frame. African American artworks by Jerry and Terry Lyn, A.C. Fenell, Leroy Campbell, Ronald Jones, William Tolliver, James Denmark, three textiles by Andre Thompson and several by J.R. Picott are also in the sale.                                        

18th, 19th and 20th century furniture throughout the sale range from a selection of oak barristers and file cabinets to American cherry, walnut and pine to Welsh cupboards, Dutch marquetry and other early continental pieces. A collection of antique mirrors is led by a large 19th century cove stenciled example. Mid Century pieces include a Mies van Rohe solid chromed steel and leather chair, pair Barcelona chairs, teak by Dux, Folke Ohlsson, Peter Nielson, Rud Rasmussen and other makers, chandeliers by Lightolier, Murano, and French Deco, I. Noguchi coffee table, George Nelson sideboard, a Wurlitzer console piano #219871, and a Knoll chrome and glass coffee table. Clock enthusiasts will find interest in a mahogany cased Tiffany chiming tall clock, an 18th century boulle clock by Etienne LeNoir, two Tiffany Studios mantle clocks; pine needle and gilt enamel, two early barometers one dated 1650, a Longines vintage chronometer and a restored P. Whiting, Winchester wooden works tall clock among others. 

Over 1300  ounces of silver in flatware and hollowware are primarily early to mid century styles and makers. There are also a few Georgian pieces including a set of four tall candlesticks circa 1790 hallmarked EF with two fine candelabra arms. Some jewelry, mostly sterling and Chinese examples are mixed in. Several china services and various fine porcelains and glass include services of hand painted Limoges, Staffordshire, Lladro and other figurines, Sevres urns, KPM plaque, Royal Worcester Imari and cream ware, Ashworth Real, Baccarat, selection 18th century glass, Murano and other standards. Art glass primarily from one estate collection is led by two monumental pairs of vases, quite possibly exhibition pieces. A cameo enameled floral pair by Mont Joye and an early cameo pair by Theodore LeGras. Other pieces include works by Tiffany Studios, D'Agyl, Galle and Stevens and Wiliams. 

From the same estate come an exceptional exhibition cabinet with pewter and Delft decoration and a monumental ebonized Austrian Succession or Jugendstil cabinet with exceptional plated metal decoration. Other items of interest include a small collection early American documents, a collection of metal and horn powder flasks, a 19th century celestial globe by Nevil Maskelyne, two early iron fire markers, two brass Gothic Revival chandeliers, a Grand Tour marble copy of the Uffizi wrestlers, an 18th century wrought iron strong box with keys, a large collection Coca Cola tin litho trays and trucks and several early textiles and Persian rugs.

The sale begins with a fine collection of Chinese bronzes, pairs of porcelain vases, carved jades, Kesi badges, watercolors, porcelain painted tiles, an 8 panel porcelain candle screen and other artifacts.  A selection of furniture throughout the sale ranges from a nice selection country to several standout Mid Century examples and Victorian rosewood and marble top tables. Two midtown NYC estate cleanouts offered up quite an extensive collection led by a Philadelphia 18th century Windsor armchair, a good Virginia pierced tin pie safe in blue, lots of decorated stoneware, an early painted barber pole, whirligigs, early iron and tools, architectural fan elements, vanes, decoys, textiles and other American provincial home objects. A Garrison collector contributed an excellent group of 19th century frames. mirrors, woodenware, gilt bronze and Empire, Federal and Restoration furniture 

From a Somers estate a collection of early firematic helmets, lanterns, badges, bells, a Mills 5 cent slot, a Gottlieb ``Fun Park" pinball, a large Old Dutch Cleaner enamel sign, lots of cast iron garden items and a steel medical cabinet should garner man cave interest. A fascinating story if true regards an English traveling medical cabinet from an old Hasting on Hudson estate purportedly owned by Dr. Samuel Mudd. Old labeled Baltimore bottles lead a bit of credence but aside from urban legend there is no proof. 

Lighting and clock enthusiasts will be happy with the large selection of 19th and 20th century timepieces and selection lamps and chandeliers, mostly Art Deco, Mid Century and 19th century bronze examples.  Mid Century pieces include a remarkable set of six bent wood Charles Eames dining chairs with rare Evans Products labels, a Borge Mogensen secretary desk, a Ritva Puotila Finish 1972 rug, three Mies van der Rohe chairs with Danish labels, two Joe Colombo office carts, Erik Hogland glass, Herbert Krenchel bowls, a WMF punchbowl, Woodard mesh chairs and works by Lalique, Icart, Hagenauer, Curtis Jere and Julia Glickens.

A nice group of sterling silver flatware and hollowware,  American silver coins, a small but select collection of estate jewelry, silver and bronze Judaica from an old Polish family as well as Tiffany, Christophle and a large tea service will be featured mid sale. 

Several china services and various fine porcelains and glass include services of hand painted Limoge, Masons, Noritake as well as Waterford, Baccarat and other standards.
